NEIHR National Coordinating Centre Meeting Summary
February 2025
On February 14–15, the Network Environments of Indigenous Health Research (NEIHR) Program held its bi-annual meeting in Ottawa. On February 14, NEIHR Principal Investigators (PIs) and managers met with CIHR President Dr. Paul Hebert and the Scientific Directors of CIHR Institutes, which marked the first time since the inception of the NEIHR Program that the NEIHR Centres and Scientific Directors convened together.
As the only initiative funded by all 13 Institutes, the NEIHR Centres play a vital role in advancing training, mentorship, and research with and for Indigenous Peoples and communities across Canada.
In collaboration with Dr. Chelsea Gabel, Scientific Director of the Institute of Indigenous Peoples’ Health (IIPH), the National Coordinating Centre (NCC) of the NEIHR Program aimed to foster dialogue and strengthen relationships between CIHR and the NEIHR network.
Productive conversations were held about engagement, collaboration, maintaining momentum, defining priorities and objectives, and ensuring the continued success of Indigenous health research initiatives in Canada.
